The Aims of the Trust are:

The advancement of the education of the public in the arts, particularly, but not exclusively, the performing arts

The advancement of the education of the public by the provision and maintenance of a public library and associated facilities.

Any charitable purpose for the general benefit of the public.

Management

The Flavel is managed by an Executive Committee appointed by and responsible to the Trustees.

Sub-Committees are set up by the Executive Committee as required.

A Management Advisory Committee drawn from various sections of the community meets quarterly and provides a working forum to ensure the day-to-day operational management of the Flavel is satisfactory.

The Flavel was built by generous donations of time and money by residents of Dartmouth and District and second home owners who enjoy the vibrant centre.

It was awarded grants from the following:

  • European Regional Development Fund (Objective 2)
  • The Hadley Trust
  • Land Fill Tax
  • Private Trusts
  • South Hams District Council
